HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE (From Previous)
First Mention
 The First time a word, a phrase, an object or incident is mentioned in the Bible it gives the key to its meaning anywhere else in the Bible whenever it may occur.
In Gen.3 we have the first mention of fig leaves. Their meaning here will be their meaning everywhere in the Bible. Here, fig leaves represent Adam's attempt to cover his own sin and nakedness by the works of his own hand and his own efforts. It speaks of self righteousness, rejection of God's remedy and an attempt to justify oneself before God.
The last time fig leaves are mentioned in the Bible is by Jesus in Matt.21, Mark 11 and Mark 13.
To interpret this act of Jesus we need only to remember the Law of First Mention and go back to Gen.3. Fig Leaves speak of man's rejection of God's remedy and an attempt to Justify himself. It speaks of self-righteousness without the fruit of repentance.
Triple Approach
All Scripture has Three approaches or Three meanings:
1. All Scripture has one and only primary interpretation.
2. All Scripture has many practical applications.
3. Many Scriptures have in addition a prophetic revelation.
If we see only the primary interpretation we become dogmatic, sound in doctrine but lifeless in practice. Your theology may be very clear but leaves you frozen. We need to see the practical application,as well, for the truth of our own lives.
To be interested only in the doctrine and the interpretation and not in practice will make us bigots and Pharisees. If we see only the practical application and not the primary interpretation it will make us shallow and fanatical.
To see the Scripture only as prophetic revelation and ignore the other two will result in prophetic eschatological phanaticism.
Common Sense
The Bible is not a dark and difficult book to study. God wrote it for simple people like you and me, not only for intellectuals. Use common sense and read it just like you read any other book. There are many figures and metaphors in it but so are there in all literature. Take it all literally, except
when your common sense tells you that it is not to be taken figuratively or symbolically.

Η ΠΡΟΣΕΥΧΗ ΤΟΥ ΚΥΡΙΟΥ (Λουκ.11:1-4)
Διαβαζοντας αυτα τα εδαφια θα προσεξουμε κατ' αρχην την παρακληση που Του υπεβαλαν οι μαθητες Του, 'Κυριε διδαξε μας να προσευχομαστε΄. Η αληθεια εδω ειναι φανερη. Οι μαθητες του Ιησου Χριστου δεν γνωριζαν πως να προσευχηθουν και ακομα ποιο φανερο ειναι το γεγονος οτι ουτε και μεις, για να ειμαστε απολυτα ειλικρινεις. Το λαθος βεβαια ειναι οτι συχνα ουτε το ανανγνωριζουμε ουτε και το παραδεχομαστε. Αν οι μαθητες του Χριστου το βρηκαν τοσο αναγκαιο να μαθουν πως να προσευχονται σωστα, ποσο μαλλον εμεις.
Αρκετοι λενε η αποστηθιζουν τη προσευχη αυτη, με πιστη στη καρδια τους, και αυτο ειναι πραγματι και καλο και σωστο. Αλλα ειναι αραγε αυτος ο σκοπος της η χρειαζεται κατι περισσοτερο; Πιστευω οτι οταν ο Κυριος διδαξε τους μαθητες Του εβαλε το θεμελιο στο οποιο βασιζονται οι προσευχες μας.
Ας κοιταξουμε τα λογια της προσευχης καπως προσεκτικα και ας προσπαθησουμε μαζι να αντλησουμε τον πλουτο και τα μαθηματα που αυτος ο τυπος, το καλουπι μας προσφερει. Αρχιζει λοιπον με τα λογια:
'Πατερα μας.....' Οταν προσευχομαστε απευθυνομαστε στον Θεο Πατερα. Και ειναι Πατερα μας! Οχι μονο δικος σου και δικος μου Πατερας αλλα καθενος που τον επικαλειται, ανεξαρτητα φυλου η αποχρωσης. Και γιατι ειναι Πατερας μας; Η απαντηση βρισκεται στον προφητη Μαλαχια 2:10 'Δεν ειναι ενας Πατερας ολων μας; Δεν μας επλασε ενας Θεος;'  Ναι ειναι Πατερας μας γιατι μας δημιουργησε, μας πλαστουργησε.
Το επομενο ερωτημα ειναι πως ο Θεος ονομαζεται Πατερας; Μηπως ο Θεος εχει καποιαν οικογενεια η κρυβεται καποιο μυστικο;
Ο Θεος, που ειναι Αγαπη, ποθουσε παντα μια οικογενεια, ενα συνολο ανθρωπων, που να καλει παιδια Του, η καρδια τους να ανηκει σ'Αυτον και να τον περιτριγυριζουν με αγαπη και υπακοη στο Λογο Του. Μεσα απο αυτη τη επιθυμια ο Θεος αρχισε να προωθει το Σχεδιο Του για να δημιουργησει αυτη την οικογενεια, που καλειται η Εκκλησια. Τα πρωτα μελη λοιπον της οικογενειας αυτης τα εβαλε μεσα σε ενα καταλληλο περιβαλλον οπου θα μπορουσαν να εχουν επικοινωνια μαζι Του (Γεν.2).
Ο διαβολος ομως κατορθωσε να διασπασει αυτη την επικοινωνια και να βαλει αμφιβολιες, ανυπακοη και δυσαρεσκεια στις καρδιες τους, καταστρεφοντας ετσι το ειρινικο και χαρουμενο κλιμα της οικογενειας αυτης, αναγκαζοντας τον Θεο να τους εκδιωξει, για το καλο τους, απο τον κηπο και απο το δενδρο της ζωης (Γεν.3).
Τα πρωτα λοιπον παιδια του Θεου και οι γενιες τους μεταβληθηκαν σε παιδια οργης, παιδια του διαβολου, ψευτες και ραδιουργοι, εμπιστευομενοι τον διαβολο παρα τον Θεο. Ο Θεος ομως, εξ' αιτιας της μεγαλης Του αγαπης αποφασισε να ξανακτισει γυρω Του μιαν οικογενεια που να αγαπα και να ανταποκρινεται στη Αγαπη Του. Ο Θεος κρατησε το σχεδια Του κρυφα μεσα στην καρδια Του, κρυφα ακομα και απο τους Αγγελους Του και απευθυνθηκε στο μονο προσωπο που μπορουσε να αποκαστησει τους σπασμενους δεσμους που εδεναν την οικογενεια του Θεου.
Ο Χριστος δεχθηκε να πληρωσει την τιμη που απαιτουσε η θεια δικαιοσυνη και η αποκατασταση της ηθικης ταξης που τοσο βαναυσα προσβαλε ο ανθρωπος, με τη θυσια Του στο Σταυρο και ικανοποιησε τους αλανθαστους νομους του Θεου (Α' Ιωαν.4:10). Γι' αυτο το λογο ο Θεος τον ανεστησε απο τους νεκρους για να γινει το πρωτο μελος της οικογενεια Του, της Εκκλησιας (Κολ.1:14-18). Ο Χριστος ειναι ο προτωτοκος της οικογενειας του Θεου λογω Αναστασεως (Ψαλ.2:7-9). Σε κεινους που δεχονται και ομολογουν τον Ιησου Χριστο σαν Σωτηρα και Κυριο τους ο Θεος τους υιοθετει στην οικογενεια Του σαν γιους και θυγατερας Του (Γαλ.4:1-7).                                                                       (Συνεχιζεται)                                 
                                    

HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE
A subject of much controversy and confusion in the Church.
Why do so many believers blindly follow any teaching thrust upon
them or so many leaders lack a clear understanding of spiritual
truths? Questions that need real, clear answers in the Church.
The idea that we can study the Bible as we please is wrong.
Unless we observe certain (unwritten) rules we shall end in error
and confusion. The first to point out such rules was Origen, a
prolific Christian writer of 2nd/3rd century A.D.
Some of these rules are:
The Rule of Spiritual Rebirth.
If you want to know the Bible you must first of all get to know the Author. This means  that you must be Born from Above-John 3:1-12.
If you are not saved by Faith in Christ and have not been spiritually awakened, Bible study is not for you. You first need to receive Christ as your Saviour and God for the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to spiritual truth, to which you are totally blind. The person who is not spiritually awakened cannot receive truth from the Word of God-1 Cor.2:14. He may admire the teaching of the Bible and the life of Christ but he cannot understand spiritual things until the Holy Spirit opens
his understanding-1 Cor.1:18,25.
Literal Interpretation.
Read your Bible literally, in the same way that you would read any other book. Believe what God says. The Church means the Church, a star means a star, a stone means a stone.... unless the 
content clearly shows that it is a symbol or a figure and is not to be taken literally.
Common sense will tell us whether it is to be taken literally or symbolically.

THE BLOOD
A prominent theme in the Bible and one of vital importance.
The Bible begins with this theme (Gen.3:21) and ends with it (Rev.5:9). The first mention of Blood in the Scriptures is in Gen.4:10. We are told that the Blood speaks. Notice, however, that there is no blood mentioned in the creation of man.
Why Blood? It represents man's sinful life on this earth-Leviticus 17:11. God demanded the shedding of Blood for the remission of Sin-Hebrews 9:22. Blood had to be shed completely for the sacrifice to be effective-Leviticus 1:1-5, John 19:33-34.
Christ shed His blood on the Cross, the penalty for sin-Luke 24:39. Blood was shed to seal God's Testament with man-Heb.9:16-20. Christ sealed God's New Testament with His own Blood-Heb.9:23-14.
Christ's Blood was different from that of the sacrificial animal:
1. His Blood was incorruptible-Ps.16:10.
2. It was sinless Blood-2 Cor.5:21.
3. His Blood endures forever, giving victory-Heb.12:22-24.
4. His Blood is precious, invaluable-1 Pet.1:18-19.
5. His Blood has power. Satan hates it-Rev.12:11.
6. His Blood protects us-Ex.12:13.
We must not forget the sacrifice on the Cross. God asks us to remember it-1 Cor.11:25.
We are told that the Blood cries to God. One day the earth will disclose all the blood shed -Isaiah 26:21.
